With the upcoming play Legally Blonde officially coming to a wrap, there is another part of the show that will be missed off stage, the stage crew seniors. Things are changing, and so are the people, so what exactly is expected to change?
By the time next year rolls around, three of the stage managers will be gone. Not only have these seniors played a crucial part in the shows themselves, but they have also played significant roles in people’s lives. “It’s hard to see them leave.” Anna Collins, 10, said about the seniors leaving. Collins also said, “Their leaving affects me because I honestly like never knowing what I’m doing, so not having Kaili (Kaili Rose, 12,) there next year will be hard.” Each of these seniors has created an organized and structured environment to work in. Now, just because the environment they all helped form is structured and organized doesn’t mean it’s not fun. Madalyn Worst, 10, a stage crew member for two years, said, “I am sad to see the seniors go. They have meant so much to all of us in the stage crew, and I don’t know what we will do without them.” With all of the seniors leaving, there has to be someone to take charge.
With all of the seniors leaving, there has to be someone to take charge. Collins is currently a sophomore and is expected to take on a role as stage manager. When it comes to Collins taking on a leadership role, Worst said, “In my eyes, Anna has been a leader for the past 2 years that I have worked with her. ” Collins has been in the stage crew since seventh grade and has said that she is very excited to not only take on a leadership role but also be able to take the role on as a Junior. Collins also said, “I am very excited to be taking a leadership position next year with my friend Sabrina that I met on crew because of the amount of love I have for the stage crew and how it has really made me love musicals.” Collins is a very hard-working, passionate, and loving person who will take on the leadership role beautifully.
Goodbyes are always hard, and this one is no exception. Seeing everyone leave is bound to bring up some emotions, but it’s also important to note that all good things come to an end and now that this chapter is over brand new ones are on their way.
