Every year, the Freshman class starts their new journey into high school, and one way to help their experience go more smoothly is the introduction of their class advisors. This year, the class of 2029 has the first all-female duo to welcome them into the new school year. Jaclyn Guth, Health and Physical Education teacher, and Morgan Cydis, Biology and Anatomy and Physiology teacher, are ready to take on the next four years. “ I am really excited to get to know the freshmen class and work with our new officers,” Cydis said, “Also, I am really excited to lead the class with Guth and listen to student ideas.”
Along with being the first female duo, they also share a familiar background, “We are both alumni, so Clearview holds a special place in our hearts. We want to give our students the same, if not better, experiences than we had.” Guth said. Guth and Cydis are also in different departments of teaching, so this also allows them to converse and work closer together.
Throughout the next four years, students will use them as a tool when it comes to many important events, Guth said, “Advisors are responsible for coordinating school events, fundraisers, and school spirit activities. We will support student ideas, along with the other class advisors, to make sure all classes have a memorable, positive, and fun high school experience.” Through different events there are easy ways to get involved with the class. “Freshmen can participate in events like homecoming, pep rallies, spirit weeks, fundraisers, etc. They can also join numerous clubs, located on the school website. They can get involved with sports as well.” Cydis said. It is important to pursue interests and try new things, Guth said, “That’s one thing I love about Clearview, is there is something for everyone, no matter what your interests are.”
Be sure to stay on the lookout for fundraisers that contribute to student accounts, allowing an easy way to save money through high school for upperclassmen events such as Senior Trip and Prom. “We are working on an individual fundraiser for all students right now to sell popcorn. Students of all grades will be able to compete against each other, so it will be exciting and competitive.” Cydis said. Having advisors is a great resource for guidance, and it is important to get involved and make the most of high school, Cydis said, “Your 4 years go by fast, and each year matters. Keep working hard, and don’t give up when things get hard. Enjoy every moment, because you won’t get a high school experience again.”
